Letterpress

Nearly all the production work at GTO Printers is printed on our Original Heidelberg 10 x 15 platen. Our letterpress printing has won us a number of awards in recent years.

We are not designers at GTO Printers, but accept computer generated text and graphics from you or your designer, which can be transferred to a metal plate and be letterpress printed. There is much interest in letterpress for wedding and social stationery, invitation printing, business cards, garment labels, drink coasters, and greetings cards, etc. We use imported cotton based boards from the USA to show off letterpress to its best. As well the press will number, perforate, emboss and die cut, all with precision register.

Our 1833 Albion iron hand press will print letterpress posters using our selection of large wood type or larger photopolymer plates.

Other items include Business Cards, Baby Announcement Cards, Invitations, Logos, Greeting Cards, Company Branding, Letterheads, Envelopes and lots more.

Capabilities of the Heidelberg Press

  • LETTERPRESS PRINT - Raised lettering or images are inked and pressed into the paper or board to produce a tactile debossed print.
  • BLIND DEBOSS - The text and/or image is pressed into the paper without ink. Not recommended for small type, it is not easily read.
  • BLIND EMBOSS - using special dies, the embossed area is pressed out of the paper producing a raised three dimensional print. A preprinted area can be embossed later.
  • DIE CUT - using a preshaped cutting blade set in a wood base, a shape can be cut out of board.
  • SCORE - the creasing of sheets to be folded, scoring can also be incorporated into the cutting forme.
  • PERFORATE - a cutting rule with teeth for sheets that will be torn out of a pad, receipt, raffle ticket etc
  • KISS CUT - cutting through the top sheet of self adhesive paper.
  • NUMBERING - special numbering boxes can be printed that turn over consecutive numbering.

Multi-layer coloured card

We can produce, and offer a laminating service, the glueing of two or more sheets of card together, making a beautiful multi-layered laminated card. This brings bold contrast and really makes the print job stand out. Best used for colourful multi-layer business cards and similar jobs.
